Service Description
Caregivers responsible for stoma and colostomy care must possess the proficiency to mitigate infection risks and deliver secure assistance while upholding dignity and respect. This Stoma Care course covers best practice guidelines and ensures that all attending will be better suited to delivering care for people who require stoma care. ⏰ Duration: A minimum of 3.5 contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities. 🎯 Syllabus: A range of subjects are covered including:- • Types of colostomies, ascending, transverse, descending and sigmoid. • Infection control and prevention. • Indications for a stoma. • Complications of a stoma. • How colostomy affects work, social life, clothing, showering, bathing, exercise, travel, sexual life and diet. • How diet can control excessive gas, odour, diarrhoea and constipation. • Selecting appropriate colostomy bag. • Assessing the stoma and skin. • Fitting, emptying and removing. • Privacy, dignity & respect. • Keeping accurate records. • When to call the GP/ District Nurse. 📃Assessment: Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a written assessment. 🥇 Certificate: Will be issued, subject to successful assessment. Certificate is valid for 1 year. 🧑🤝🧑 Numbers: A maximum of 12 delegates are allowed. Cancellation Policy
For online courses: 24 hours notice For face-to-face courses: If you cancel the course at any time then you must inform us as soon as possible via email. You will have to pay a cancellation charge calculated in accordance with the table below (“the Cancellation Charge”) in addition to an administration fee of £50.00 (“the Administration Fee”). Cancellation Charges are necessary because cancellations cost Us money but We will only require You to pay a reasonable sum to reimburse Us for Our lost revenue. The time before the proposed date of course that we receive notification of cancellation Cancellation Charge as a percentage of the balance of the Fees Less than 2 weeks 100% Between 2 and 4 weeks 50% Longer than 4 weeks 0% Within 7 days of the notice of cancellation being given to us, we will either:- Return to you the balance of the Fees, having deducted the Administration Fee and the applicable Cancellation Charge where you had paid the Fees to us in accordance prior to giving notice to cancel the Course; or Invoice you for the balance of the Cancellation Charge and the Administration Fee where you had not paid the Fees prior to giving notice to cancel the Course. hello@slanjavalearning.co.uk
