Service Description
💜 🧠 Our Epilepsy Awareness and Rescue Medication Administration programme welcomes healthcare professionals and support workers. Its purpose is to support those supporting individuals with epilepsy who experience prolonged or cluster seizures, enabling them to deliver optimal care. The course equips participants with the essential skills to administer rescue medication safely. This proficiency is valuable whether applied in a home environment, within a care facility, or a hospital setting. ⏰ Duration: A minimum of six contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities. Ideally, the course should be run over one day, but can be spread over a longer time period if you so desire, providing it is completed within 4 weeks of starting the course and the training sessions last for a minimum of two hours. 🎯 Syllabus: A range of subjects are covered including:- • An introduction to epilepsy • Causes of epilepsy • Triggers of seizures • Types of seizures (including management and first aid) • Rescue medication and the types available • Buccal midazolam, the preparations and dosages available in the UK • Risks and benefits • Safe administration • Monitoring, aftercare and recovery • Storage and record keeping • Individualised seizure management protocols • Practical simulation • SUDEP 📃Assessment: Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a written assessment. 🥇 Certificate: Will be issued, subject to successful assessment. Certificate is valid for 1 year. 🧑🤝🧑 Numbers: A maximum of 12 delegates are allowed. Cancellation Policy
For online courses: 24 hours notice For face-to-face courses: If you cancel the course at any time then you must inform us as soon as possible via email. You will have to pay a cancellation charge calculated in accordance with the table below (“the Cancellation Charge”) in addition to an administration fee of £50.00 (“the Administration Fee”). Cancellation Charges are necessary because cancellations cost Us money but We will only require You to pay a reasonable sum to reimburse Us for Our lost revenue. The time before the proposed date of course that we receive notification of cancellation Cancellation Charge as a percentage of the balance of the Fees Less than 2 weeks 100% Between 2 and 4 weeks 50% Longer than 4 weeks 0% Within 7 days of the notice of cancellation being given to us, we will either:- Return to you the balance of the Fees, having deducted the Administration Fee and the applicable Cancellation Charge where you had paid the Fees to us in accordance prior to giving notice to cancel the Course; or Invoice you for the balance of the Cancellation Charge and the Administration Fee where you had not paid the Fees prior to giving notice to cancel the Course. hello@slanjavalearning.co.uk
